The importance of crop residue is that once it decomposes, it helps improve the effective cation exchange capacity (ECEC) of the soil. This is why burning fields is discouraged; it kills the microorganisms that feed on the organic matter from plants and help convert fertilizers into nutrients that plants can use.

WHY GOOD SPACING IS ESSENTIAL IN BEANS - 60cm spacing between rows
1. Better Air Circulation: Wider spacing allows better air movement between the plants, reducing the risk of fungal diseases like root rot and blight, which thrive in overcrowded conditions. Healthy plants mean better yields!
